hello again!
hello again!! it has been a very long time since i wrote a blog post, site updates slowed down when school started ramping up again, but for right now i have a little bit of a break!
things have not been super interesting in my life, but i do want to get back into working on my site again,, or just making things in general again, but until now i guess i will talk about what i've been up to.
linux install updates pt. 2
it's,, not going super well, i have fallen back into being a windows user :(
obligatory lucky star in my tiling wm screenshot
tiling wm on windows is as close as i'm gonna get i guess, but it's a very jank experience and i miss my linux setup. i'm running glazewm with the dotfiles showcased on the main github
linux has a bunch of issues, and i have gotten quite busy as of late, i don't have the time i used to have to spend tinkering, breaking, and fixing things anymore and so unfortunately i have stopped using linux as my daily driver, maybe at some other point in the future i shall go back but for now this is what i'm doing.
being back on windows comes with a few upsides, games i play Just work, audio Just works, and i get to use applications like foobar2000 (i have fallen in love with it recently!), but i do miss linux dearly.
what i've been up to in my spare time
not much! i've been playing osu!mania a lot as of late, slowly chipping away at my goal of top 10,000 global, only a few thousand ranks to go now, i think i can get there soon :D
that graph is so stupid
i've been able to go back to maps that used to feel so impossible and actually set decent scores on them! for a long time i was unhappy with my progress but now i feel like i have something genuinely measurable to look at and i think taking a break helped massively with that, i have also set a bunch of new plays in my top 10 highest ranking plays and got my first 400 performance point score !
the gap between these two plays is insane...
joining the fediverse again
for the first time in almost a year, i have begun using the fediverse again! i used to post quite actively on snowdin.town, a really beautiful cozy instance that unfortunately got shut down in 2023, it was one of my favorite places on the internet and to this day i miss it dearly.
i had another account on another small instance but i had never made more than 5 posts on it, and haven't used fedi since. well recently after quitting all big tech algorithmic based social platforms (twitter, youtube, tiktok, the likes) i decided to try my hand at using fedi again, searched around for an instance that looked cozy like snowdin once was, and made my new account.
feel free to follow me if you use fedi! [email protected]
using this platform again after so long makes me remember why i fell in love with it so long ago, and i am so glad to be using it again. fedi is a beautiful place filled with (mostly) beautiful people free from the issues of modern capitalist hellscape social platforms the world has become so used to, i have had some very nice interactions and it's a social platform that makes me considerably happier unlike all the bigger networks i have stopped using since. if you've never used the fediverse i urge you to give it a shot!!
what i've been watching / listening to lately
in my eternal quest to find things to fill up the amount of free time i have, finding new pieces of media to consume that i enjoy has been something i found myself doing a lot. i might be a bit weird but big budget TV shows and productions have never really been my style, i don't care for famous actors or special effects and my enjoyment from media comes from seeing the works of creatives who are free to create what they want.
so, for what i've enjoyed lately, i have recently discovered what i think is one of my favorite pieces of media i have ever had the pleasure of being able to watch, lesbian dogwood and the disaster life thereof: part 1, i HIGHLY recommend you give this a watch. it's odd, not pretty by most conventional standards, but it's just so real in a way, and one of the most beautiful things i have watched in a very long time. i don't really know what to say about it other than go give it a watch !!
"they barely survive every day and make friends and stuff and nothing really important happens."
another beautiful piece of media i have seen recently is one that is probably even weirder in concept, a period drama series filmed entirely inside of minecraft, before that puts you off please understand that this far exceeds the labels of "minecraft roleplay", it is a full production with gorgeous camera work(? is it even called that if its in minecraft, it's good okay), well composed music, and characters that i am already growing attached to, there's only one episode of it out so far but i highly reccomend you give it a watch. whitepine 1. i am very excited to see where this goes and cannot wait for a second episode :3
this series is genuinely one of the best things i have seen come from minecraft
anyway, lastly for this section, music! glass beach remains my favourite artist of all time, but i've been listening to some others lately, mainly car seat headrest (yucky i know) and loathe, with a good sprinkle of breakcore/dnb artists as well. i'm always on the hunt for good music so please let me know of any songs i should listen to :3
